I may make a summer only list. Congratulations --------------- To Clendon Gibson, long-time ARCUA member, who passed his Technician class license test at the Green Country HamFest in Tulsa! Just because school is "out" that does not mean ARCUA is dormant! Au contraire, we have many activities planned. Work parties, equipment installation/maintenance, VE sessions and, of course, Field Day. Work Parties ------------ 1) The first is currently scheduled for June 4. If anyone has real tower-climbing _experience_, we need your help. We will be traveling to Rogers to disassemble a Rohn 45G 64' tilt-over tower. The tower was donated to ARCUA by the widow of Alan Glass N5HG, now a Silent Key. Mr. Glass was a member of ARCUA in the 1930s. This gift will be installed, along with the HyGain TH6DXX, donated by Dr. Murray Harris W5XH, later in the year. 2) We need to install the Cushcraft A3WS "WARC" band beam that we purchased with ASG B-Funds. 3) Speaking of B-Funds, we are still fight^H^H^H^H^Hworking with ASG to get reimbursed for the Kansas City Tracker board. Once that issue is resolved, it will be installed in the club's '286. (anyone wanna donate a >=386?? :-) 4) We need to swap out the rotator on the 2m beam. There are other things that need be done, but none (that I can remember) that require all day group efforts. VE Session ---------- The people listed below are interested in getting or upgrading their Amateur Radio License. Hopefully, we can get the cooperation of the NWAARC and we can have an exam on campus this summer. How does early July sound? Here are the people that have expressed an interest in an exam: John Carmack Abiy Zewde Wade Espenscheid Nik Miljanic John Fifer *Clendon Gibson Callsign Pending *Joe Wiggins KC5EQK *Don Faulkner KB5WPM *Frank Buercklin KB5WAR * Upgrades I think I've forgotten some , so please let me know if I missed you or you wish to be added to the list. Field Day --------- As I am not directly involved in the planning of this year's ARCUA effort, nor will even be here (!), I can't report much. I do know however, that (thanks to Lynn Janes N0PMQ) we have again reserved the Agri-Park on N. Garland here in Fayetteville, as our FD site. This is the same site as last year and, despite The Invasion Of The Square Dancers, worked quite well. For more information on FD Rules, see QST May 1994 which is available in Mullins Library if you are not an ARRL member. I will post an update from the Field Day Chairman soon. 73, Peter Laws, N5UWY - V31WY President, 1992-1994, Amateur Radio Club, University of Arkansas / W5YM Peter Laws | "The '90s are gonna make the '60s n5uwy@ka5bml.#nwar.ar.usa.noam | look like the '50s" - Dennis Hopper
