********************************************* * Razorback Radio News - Electronic Edition * * (c) June 1994 * ********************************************* Annual meeting - 1st Thursday of September Regular meetings - 1st Thursday of each month except summer Informal Lunch meeting - every Thursday Operation SKYWARN - whenever necessary!! Greetings, Just a brief note to bring you up to date on some past and future activities. This past weekend a work party of six went to the home of N5HG (SK) to dismantle a 64' Rohn 45G tilt-over tower. After 8 hours of labor, the tower was reduced to a pickup-truck-full of steel. Without anyone being killed. The tower parts are now safely stored at the base of Science/Engineering awaiting trasfer to the roof (another day long job). Special thanks go to Chuck Korzendorfer KM5G and Charles Tillotson N5NXH without whom we could not have done the job. Once the TH6DXX is refurbished (several part have been ordered fron HyGain) AND new guy wire anchors are installed (a tilt-over requires 4 guys not 3), then we can get the *real* work underway. Current estimates are that it will be an all day job to dismantle he current tower and another all day job to erect the new-to-us tower. In the meantime, the WARC band may be installed on the "patio" using one of our push-up poles. Mark Saturday July 9 on your calendar. If all goes according to plan, ARCUA will be sponsoring a Volunteer Exam Session on that day. Now is the time to begin studying ... 73 DE N5UWY -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you join the ARRL, make sure you do it through ARCUA. Why? Because the League lets us keep $5 from every new member that joins. We get $2 for every renewal, too. In addition to QST, ARRL membership gives you important benefits like inexpensive equipment insurance, a Field Organization helping hams in every state and a voice in amateur radio related affairs in Washington DC.
