Work Session - Saturday September 10 ------------------------------------ At the last meeting, it was decided that a work session would be held this coming Saturday morning at 0830 local time at W5YM. We plan to install the WARC band beam that was purchased with B-Funds. We also plan to re-align the OSCAR antennas. Come out, learn, be active - live on the edge ... really ... Fox Hunt - Sunday September 18 ------------------------------ The NWAARC will be holding a "Fox Hunt" (hidden transmitter) on Sunday afternoon, September 18th. Meet at the Radio Shack on W Sunset in Springdale at 1400 local. Exam Session ------------ Exams for all classes of Amateur Radio License will be held on Saturday, October 29th at 0900 in Bell 273. Meeting Held September 1 ------------------------ The Annual Meeting of ARCUA was held this past Thursday, September 1st. In attendance were student members Jeff McFarland KB5RUI, Clendon Gibson KC5JDO, Peter Laws N5UWY, Russ N0QLT, Scott Fendley KC5EQJ, and Abiy Zewde (call pending). Both advisors, Dr. Charlton K5GOE and Dan Puckett K5FXB were present as were Ish Benton W5HBF (ARCUA Pres 1961-62), Charlie Huffer NY2X, Clark Calvert AB5GG, Ed Earps KB5RYR, and Randy Love WF5X. A report on summer activities was given: Tower from estate of Alan Glass N5HG, Field Day (1200 points), Kansas City Tracker, QSL cards. A report on B-Funds was presented: they have been received. A discussion of fund-raising followed and Mr. Puckett suggested that we not even apply for B-Funds before we have a fund-raising plan in place. Dr. Charlton reported that we have $150 [not an exact figure -Ed.] in the account. He also reminded us that approximately $50 of that will go to the QSL card order. A motion was presented by Mr. Laws that "membership in the club for the academic year 1994-1995 shall conform to the guidelines set forth in The Student Handbook, Appendix C". The motion was seconded by Mr. Gibson and passed without objection. A motion was presented by Mr. Laws to present Charles Korzendorfer KM5G with $25 worth of International Reply Coupons in recognition of his work in dismantling the club's new tower on June 4, 1994. The motion was passed without objection. Nominations were then sought for club officers. Mr. Laws nominated Mr. McFarland as president. The nomination was seconded by Mr. Gibson. No other nominations were received. Mr. McFarland accepted and he was elected without objection. Mr. Mcfarland nominated Mr. Gibson as vice-president. The nomination was seconded by Mr. Laws. No other nominations were received. Mr. Gibson accepted and he was elected without objection. Mr. McFarland nominated Frank Buercklin KB5WAR as Secretary/ Treasurer. Mr. Gibson seconded the nomination and Mr. Buercklin was elected without objection. Mr. Laws volunteered to: 1) be Field Day Chairman, 2) be Public Information Officer, duties to include newsletter editor, and 3) be ARCUA Historian. Mr. McFarland accepted this offer.
