Field Day 1993 -------------- Well. Field Day 1993 has come and gone. A big THANK YOU to all who participated! The rain held off (TNX for the tarps, Clendon). There was sufficient caffeine. The burgers were Excellent (TNX KB5TFX). Even the bugs were off that weekend. And, no, the 80 m dipole did not pull that huge tree limb down, Dr. Charlton. I am still 2 "dupe sheets" short of completing the Field Day Report for the ARRL. As it stands (pending verification), we made about 425 QSOs, about 25 of which were CW. Add in our bonus points (newspaper story, solar panel, etc.), and that should give us about 1600 points. An excellent effort, especially considering that most participants were first timers (myself included). I will post our final score as soon as the official report goes in. I will also post the scores from previous years that I have been researching in QST (Mullins has QST, bound, from 1927-present). Antenna Party: Wednesday ------------------------ Wednesday, July 14, 0700 CDT. We will be installing the Yaesu G-5400B Azimuth/Elevation, computer controllable, whiz/bang rotators at that time. Weather permitting. Yes - 0700. Central Daylight Time. No kidding. 73, Peter Laws N5UWY/AA, V31WY, VE2??? President, Amateur Radio Club, University of Arkansas / W5YM Exams, etc. (yes this is a repost) ---------------------------------- The new Novice (element 2) and Technician (el. 3A) pools are available in electronic form from ARCUA. Email me and Ye shall receive. You must pass both 2 and 3A to get the Technician class license. ARCUA also has available several exam "drill" programs: 1) Autoexam (by Rich Bono NM1D) gives you the choice of taking any of the written elements. 2) There is also a set of five programs (one for each test element. By Rich Barker) that do basically the same the same thing except that they are in color and have graphics for the questions that require them. The Novice and Technician programs also include the new question pool. Both varieties will give you a standard test (i.e. 50 questions from a pool of >500 for the Advanced test) or they will allow you to drill on the entire pool.
